Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap, and a false tooth in between. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants. By bridging the gap, you not only add to the ability to chew, but also prevent shifting of the remaining teeth.
- Missing tooth with adjacent natural teeth remaining
- Bridge that is no longer esthetic
- Large area of missing teeth where implants could be placed
Teeth on each side of the missing tooth are prepared for crowns. A provisional or temporary bridge is made to look and feel like the end result, while the bridge is fabricated by a laboratory.
